Huawei launches three new attractive smartphones

It has been a long time since the Chinese brand that could be described as fallen (in the West) has launched any new products. Huawei is using the spring to update its catalog.

What is unfortunately nothing more than a shadow of what it was at the end of the first decade of the twenty-first century is still standing despite everything. Still brave in China, Huawei It maintains a foothold in Europe despite the heavy logistical constraints burdened by the US embargo. The situation is far from ideal, which in no way prevents it from launching unexpected new products, as is the case today.

Huawei Nova 12 to reposition itself in the mid-range

If Huawei is known for its premium phones, it belongs to a class smart phones The mid-range launches its new references, Nova 12i, 12se and Nova 12s.

Of the two models, the latter is the one that presents the most impressive technical sheet. It's a large smartphone with a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display, equipped with a Snapdragon 778G chipset (4G only) and a 4500mAh 66W rechargeable battery. The brand promises to fully charge the phone in less than 30 minutes.

The photo department revolves around a 50MP wide-angle lens (f/1.9) and a more modest 8MP telephoto lens (f/2.2). However, on the front there is a stunning 60MP unit that will take care of the selfies.

Lighter in its proposal, the Nova 12i swaps the OLED panel for a 90Hz LCD display, and switches to the previous generation chip, the Snapdragon 680 4G. The large 5,000-capacity battery should offer convincing autonomy, and 40W charging will allow the phone to be recharged in less than an hour. In the images, we go to a single 108-megapixel (f/1.9) rear sensor and an 8-megapixel model on the front.

What about the Nova 12SE then? Well, it fits between the two! Here we get a 90Hz OLED display, an additional ultra-wide-angle module (8MP) and a better camera for selfies (32MP). The rest of the technical sheet relies on both the Nova 12s (battery) and Nova 12i (chip) to try not to run up the bill too much.

A new overlay that changes the game?

As you know: If Huawei is unable to offer 5G smartphones due to the US ban, the use of Google services and applications is also prohibited. Therefore, their mobile phones have lite versions of the Android operating system… which still lack a lot of features to feel completely comfortable.

But with Nova 12, Huawei guarantees that the new EMUI 14 interface will be a game-changer. More secure, customizable and simpler, will this overlay (still based on HarmonyOS) be able to make us forget the absence of Google? It's hard to predict.

Here are the prices at which the new Huawei Nova smartphones will be launched next month:

  • Huawei Nova 12i: starting at 299 euros;
  • Huawei Nova 12se: starting at 379 euros;
  • Huawei Nova 12s: starts at €499.

Meanwhile, the Chinese brand is also launching its new products Connected bracelet Huawei Band 9 is available in 10 colors for € 59.99.
