At the beginning of this beautiful memorial adventure there is a meeting between two enthusiasts: Michel Bordenav, who has been rooted in the village for 20 years and the Joel Canal,
Roquebrunais pure strain. They both wanted to revive this past that we came from.
This resulted in the heritage and memory of our country, which was originally the same in the edition of 23 notebooks telling the history of the village. Success also means success in rallying nearly a hundred people around this ambition.
In addition to these study activities, Michel and Joel involved the association in two projects: the first, on the initiative of the municipality, related to the registration of the village within the framework of the magnificent heritage site, the file of which was unanimously approved by the Ministry of Culture. “Not a constraint, but an opportunity that protects buildings and landscapes”Michel Bordenav explains.
The other idea is the Heritage House. Joel Canal pulled the church vault out of desertion. Over the months, these deserted basements were changed by volunteers who would come to work there every month. The pace has accelerated lately. The goal is to open Saint-André at the end of the last week of November. Besides little hands, we must salute André Cornell, Lionel Rodriguez who brings his archaeological skills, Jean-Louis Guilhoumont, the skills of a photo artist.
The heritage house will be a kind of small museum for the memory of the village. The local elected officials understood this very well and did not hesitate to vote for an exceptional aid of €10,000. Historic frescoes, artifacts, models, Roquebrune marble, religious art, trompe l’oeil … Behind the utopia shows the fact that two enthusiasts knew how to hatch so that Roquebrune was not only a beautiful village, but the result of a human adventure.
