v41 update (Windows 11, Parental Controls, Horizon Home…)

A few days after the announcement of the arrival Horizon Home Update Version 41 Quest and Quest 2, Meta now gives us a full description of this update and we can say it’s substantial!

Meta Horizon Home

In this version, early access is possible to Meta Horizon Home, your personal social space for virtual reality. With the new VR Home, you will now have a central location where you can:

  • Invite your friends and family to hang out together as an avatar
  • Talk to them using spatial voice
  • Coordination and launch of multiplayer experiences supported together

Watch Oculus TV with friends at Meta Horizon Home

Challenge the distance between you and friends or family and share experiences by watching Oculus TV with friends in Meta Horizon Home, where you can do things like:

  • Host a virtual movie night for your friends and browse Lionsgate movies (USA only)
  • Travel to space and learn about life on the International Space Station
  • Get a front row seat at a custom-made concert for you and your best friends

Parental supervision

Introducing the first toolkit for Parental supervision. Teens ask a parent or guardian to supervise their accounts. Parents can accept these requests from the Oculus mobile app. Once parental supervision is set up, parents can access the following features:

  • The parent will be able to block certain apps that may be inappropriate for their teen, thus preventing the teen from running these apps. Apps that can be blocked include apps like web browsers and apps available from the Meta Quest Store
  • A parent will be able to consent to a download or purchase by their teenage son of an app that has been blocked by default based on their IARC rating
    • Teens 13 and older can submit an access request to the app, which will send a notification to their parents
    • The parent can then approve or decline the request from the Oculus mobile app
  • A parent will be able to see all the apps that their teenage son has
  • Parents will be able to receive ‘Purchase Notifications’, alerting them when their teen makes a purchase in VR
  • Parents will be able to see headset screen time from the Oculus mobile app, so they know how much time their teen is spending in VR
  • The parent will be able to see the list of Oculus friends for teens
  • The parent can prevent end to end And the Airlink which will prevent his teenage son from accessing his PC content on his Quest headset

helmet color

We’ve improved color accuracy for Oculus Home, System UI, and other 2D panel applications for the Meta Quest headset. We’ve also provided a color space setting that lets you choose how you want the colors on your headphones to appear in these areas. You can check out the new color space options in your palette experimental parameters.
