The The Food and Drug Administration alerts pet owners and veterinarians About Sportmix Specific Pet Foods, manufactured by Midwestern Pet Foods, Inc.
They may contain lethal levels of aflatoxin – a toxin produced by mold.
At least 28 dogs died and eight others became ill due to the recalled product.

Some of the symptoms that have been reported include fatigue, loss of appetite, vomiting, jaundice, and diarrhea. In some cases, pets may suffer from liver damage but not have other symptoms.
Pet owners should stop feeding their pets with recalled products and consult a veterinarian, especially if their pet is showing any sign of disease.
