Despite his young age, 27 years old, Kevin De Jesus is a true business leader. During a meeting lasting just a few minutes at his new headquarters in the Beauvoir craft district in Marseille, the two cell phones of SARL president DJ Constructions never stopped ringing. He replies in turn in French and Portuguese.

At the age of 15, Kevin De Jesus successfully passed the CAP Construction exam and then obtained a BSc in Quantity Surveyor. He founded DJ Constructions with his father, Joachim, in 2016. Joachim de Jesus died a year later. “I learned everything on the job with the help of my father. He wanted me to go through it.” Since then the company has grown. He went from 2 to 16 employees. And from a modest warehouse in Nieul-sur-Mer to a new rooftop space of 600 square meters in Marseille. “I want to grow more. “It's not an obsession, it's a dream,” says the young business leader, who uses SARL Magalhaes in Nieul-sur-Mer as a model. “The goal is to succeed like them and their 120 employees. I will give myself until I am forty. But there is no competition between me and them.”

Duration of three years

When he is not in his new offices in Marseille or on his construction sites, Kevin de Jesus is at the Portuguese Cultural Association hall in La Rochelle in the Beauregard area. “At that time, Michel Crepeau gave the land to the association. “The community built this room,” continues Kevin DeJesus. He has been president of the 120-member association since October 15, 2023. He succeeds Joaquim da Cunha, “I was a last-minute candidate. “Everyone was pushing me to do it.” The young and new president of the society, who has been elected for a three-year term, wants to try to breathe new life into it without breaking the rules of the society. “I have no free time. My pleasure is my work and my sport time is this new presidency.” Despite this schedule, every Sunday Kevin de Jesus will continue to share a meal with the Portuguese from La Rochelle in the Beauregard Room.
