The “Black Panther” actress was seriously injured while eating on the balcony

Actress Carrie Bernans, known for her role as Dora Milaje in the Black Panther film series, was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident on January 1 in New York.

Ms. Bernans was eating outside a restaurant when a driver fleeing police drove his car onto the balcony where she was, NBC News reported.

The 29-year-old sexy actress was left unconscious and with multiple broken bones, bruises, fractures and broken teeth, according to reports shared by her mother Patricia Lee on Instagram.

The latter also points out that her daughter will not be able to breastfeed her eight-month-old son “because of the medications she is given to relieve pain between surgeries.”

In a Gofundme she set up to fund her medical bills, Ms Bernans says she is “full of hope and faith in this new chapter of her life”.

For its part, the New York Police Department indicates that before the accident occurred, the police responded to an argument between a 44-year-old driver and his 34-year-old passenger.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver instead decided to drive onto the sidewalk where he allegedly struck a grocery cart and three pedestrians.

He reportedly struck two parked cars and a moving vehicle.

Two police officers and the car's passenger were also injured.

Finally, the driver was arrested and remains in custody.

Carrie Bernans has appeared in many films and series over the years as an actress and model, most famously in Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame, in which she played the character Dora Milaje.
