Tarascon sur Ariege. The Portuguese folk group celebrated its 50th anniversary on stage

I am very happy and encouraged to see a whole lot of people with photos on Fridays, as partakers and later with a unique moment: to see the next anniversary of the creation of the group in the same group on the next day, with the next mentor. ‘Create !

Saturday 9 December was a big evening for the Portuguese folk group, created and directed by Jean Maciel. On the stage of the multimedia room, in a closed and intimate space, the group performed the show. An advantage and a disadvantage at the same time: everything is examined, nothing goes unnoticed, even those who prefer to dance barefoot, including young children, along with the joyful faces of adult dancers, and their omnipresent complicity.

The performance usually takes place outdoors (galleries, the square in front of Notre-Dame-de-Sabart, etc.), and the balance between music, songs and text of the speakers in this room may sometimes be undermined.

But the display is mainly visual. The dancers’ costumes were admired by the spectators, as nothing was left to chance, from the white stockings to the women’s headdresses, including the multiple colors of the costumes that added a touch of festive air.

The celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Portuguese Folk Band from Tarascón sur Ariège was also an opportunity to point out that suffering is there alongside us, and participation in the Telethon aims to alleviate, if not mitigate, eliminate it. A basket was distributed in this direction, before being delivered to Frédéric Villeneuve, the firefighter responsible for this movement in the Tarascon area.
