Gaza: Three Palestinian journalists were killed as a result of Israeli raids

Three Palestinian journalists were killed early Tuesday morning in an Israeli air strike on Gaza City, according to what the Journalists Syndicate and a local official reported on the fourth day of the war between Israel and Hamas.

The killing of the journalists brings to seven the number of Palestinian journalists killed in fighting since Saturday, according to what the Hamas media office said in a statement.

The local Journalists Syndicate announced in a statement that “three journalists were martyred in the Gaza Strip during the ongoing Israeli aggression” on Tuesday.

The director of the media office of the Hamas-led government, Salama Marouf, revealed the identities of the victims: Saeed Al-Taweel, director of Al-Khamis News Agency, Muhammad Sabah, a photographer, and Hisham Nawajaa, a local channel correspondent. news agency.

Condemning Israel’s “criminal behavior with regard to journalists,” Mr. Marouf said the journalists were killed in a bombing while they were covering the evacuation of a residential building near the fishing port in Gaza City.

An Israeli correspondent told Agence France-Presse that the journalists stood dozens of meters away from the building after a resident received a phone call from the Israeli army asking him to evacuate the building in anticipation of an imminent attack.

Journalist Asad Shamlikh was killed on Sunday, according to a press release from the media office, adding that two videographers were missing and ten journalists were injured.

Three journalists were killed on Saturday, according to the Palestinian statement and the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists. The latter indicated, on Monday, that photographer Ibrahim Muhammad Lafi, reporter Muhammad Jarghoun, and Muhammad al-Salhi were shot dead in separate incidents.
