A Vermont State Police officer didn't hesitate to jump into the water to save an 8-year-old girl who ventured into a frozen pond before the ice collapsed beneath her feet.

The accident occurred on December 17 in Cambridge, when two children found themselves in the water, CNN reported.

After one of them was pulled from the freezing water, the owner of the home next to the water called 911.

Body camera footage shows police officer Michelle Archer rushing into the pond to help the 8-year-old girl there.

“It was like an adrenaline rush before arriving at the scene,” explains the police officer. You know you have to get there as quickly as possible.”

“I don't know if it was because of my training or something else, but panic was definitely not on my mind at the time,” she adds.

I managed to get her out of the water alive.

“I don’t consider myself a hero,” she said. I was the first person to get there. “There was work to be done and I was there to do it.”

The girl was taken to the hospital, where she was eventually released from the hospital.
