Nintendo eShop Down, apparently due to Monster Hunter Rise Demo’s request [Updated]

Nintendo confirmed that the blackout is now over, and IGN was able to access the Nintendo eShop (and download the Monster Hunter demo). The Nintendo eShop is currently down due to unscheduled “emergency maintenance”, which may have been due to a recent demand for the Monster Hunter Rise beta release.

The online store was down for at least 4 hours at the time of writing, with Japanese Nintendo Customer Support Twitter account Frequent issues apologies, with no repair schedule provided.

While neither Nintendo nor Capcom has commented specifically on the connection, the outage coincides with the release of a Monster Hunter Rise demo, which includes two missions and two tutorials for the upcoming Switch exclusive.

Yesterday’s Monster Hunter live broadcast revealed a number of new monsters and details about the game, including the fact that the new ability will allow you to ride monsters (an ability that you can test in demo).

The demo weighs 1.6GB, and tasks can be run a maximum of 30 times before the February 1 closing date. If you can’t download, we have videos from The Great Izuchi Mission, and Mizutsune Quest for you to check out.
