Like every year, María Oliveira, the “Queen of the Flowers of Villefranche,” gathered her friends together for a festive afternoon.
On its flowering property it hosted for the first time the Portuguese folk group Etoile du Nord of Montlucon, with some forty artists.
But also the group of Amigos Unidos, also from Montluçon, and dozens of accordion players, singers and singers. The trio of Baptiste, Jean-Michel and Joel provide the musical entertainment.
Each group performed during the afternoon where guests were able to have snacks and in particular taste delicious cakes made by Maria’s friends. We were imagining ourselves at the village festival.
“When I see all these people gathered around me, I am really touched. This little annual party gets bigger every year,” said Maria. She thanked Gerard Ferrier, the mayor, and his wife, as well as Bernadette Blanchett, the mayor of Chapas, for their presence. So did his Portuguese friends and the residents of Villefranche d’Alliers who responded to his call, not to mention the help provided by his family.
And Maria has already made an appointment with everyone for next year.
