Holiday departures: What are the most stressful airports in the world?

Between flight delays, baggage issues, and security checks, air travel can sometimes be more stressful than anything else when going on vacation, especially at some of the most stressful airports in the world.

This was found by visa advice website VisaGuide.World when ranking the world's most stressful airports in 2023.

The website asked for the opinions of 1,642 air travelers from 53 different nationalities who had taken at least two trips to another country in the past year.

They were questioned in particular about the large number of passengers, the size of airports, the frequency of flight delays and even the distance from the city centre.

Thus, the airport that ranked first is London Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom, with a score of 52, although it is far from the largest in terms of area and number of passengers. However, it has approximately 41% delayed flights and is quite far from the city centre.

It is followed by Istanbul Airport in Turkey with a score of 42.79, followed by Munich Airport in Germany which received a score of 40.43.

Overall, half of the most stressful airports are in Europe and the other half are in the United States, such as Denver (5H Place) or Los Angeles (6H place).

Conversely, Asian airports, which are among the largest in the world, are less stressful for travelers.

No Canadian airport was found in this ranking of 30 airports considered the most stressful.
