(WASHINGTON) An Arizona judge dismissed, Saturday, due to lack of evidence, Republican Carrie Lake, protégé of Donald Trump and the failed candidate for governor of this southern state, in his attempt to reverse the results of the November elections.
The court did not find “clear and convincing evidence of professional misconduct,” which, according to M., would have affected the outcome of the election.me Lake, Judge Peter Thompson said in his decision.
Carrie Lake responded on Twitter: “In order to restore confidence and honesty in our elections, I will appeal this decision.”
The former anchor who lost to Democrat Katie Hobbs by a margin of 17,117 votes, as detailed in the court document, claimed in part that issuing ballots in Arizona’s most populous Maricopa County that includes the capital, Phoenix, was intentional with the purpose of staging his defeat.
Justice Thompson insisted, “The Court cannot accept speculation or conjecture in place of clear and convincing evidence.”me Hobbes.
Polling for the governor was held up by technical glitches affecting machines that read or print ballots at about 60 polling stations in Maricopa County, but authorities said that didn’t stop voters from voting.
The latter were able to go to other offices, or deposit their ballots in secure boxes.
Carrie Lake, a Trump symbolic figure, refused when the results made it clear that she would accept the ballot result.
