Full competition schedule

Held in Georgia and Romania between June 21 and July 8, the Euro is for players 21 and under and promises to be a great show with the first group stage taking place just over a week before the knockout stage begins. Among the countries present, France, England, Germany or even Spain and Italy, as is so often the case, will be among the favorites even if a few selections cause a sensation. The full Euro U21 2023 programme

From 21st to 28th June, the first part of the competition will be a group stage divided into four groups, where only the top two teams selected at the end of the three days will see the quarter-finals.

The group stage of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2023

Like recent editions and the format used by major international competitions for several decades now, it is really a group stage system in which the top two groups of each group consist of four teams who will join the quarter-finals.

The four groups in this competition were decided on October 18 using the seeding system and are:

Group A: Georgia, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands

Group B: Romania, Spain, Ukraine, Croatia

Group C: Czech Republic, England, Germany, Israel

Group D: Norway, Switzerland, France, Italy

The knockout stage of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2023

Because of the format in which the entire competition takes place over the course of only eighteen days, the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals of the competition, which will be held in Batumi, will be played in one week. Arena in Georgia.

Challenges of the European Under-21 Championship 2023 for Olympic qualification

Besides the French team automatically qualifying for the Olympic Games they will play on home soil, this Euro U21 2023 tournament will be an opportunity for some of the selections to validate their ticket to Paris 2024.

In fact, the top three teams from the competition will be rewarded with qualification for the next Olympics, in the event that France (already qualified) and/or England (who cannot qualify because Great Britain represented Brittany at the Olympics) are among the first three in the final classification for this Euro, A playoff could take place on July 7 or 8.
