Threads wants to make you forget about X (Twitter) by adding a new, very practical button

Mark Zuckerberg announced that Threads was implementing a new edit button. With this new feature, you can edit your post as many times as you want within five minutes of publishing it.

Good news for Threads users, Meta is trying to give the app more functionality to convince X users to abandon Elon Musk’s social network. Among the new features is the edit button, This will allow users not to have to re-publish a new post when they want to correct an error.

Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, adds that users You will have up to five minutes to edit the post. To highlight this delay, the app will display a countdown timer above an editable message.

Threads wants to be the free alternative to X

Although the five-minute window is narrower than the one-hour window offered by its competitor X (Twitter), it is also available for free, unlike the social media platform owned by Elon Musk. On the last, Tweet editing is reserved for X Premium, which costs around €10 per month.

The problem is that threads will not display message modification history. This hurts transparency, especially if someone dramatically changes the content of a post that quickly gains popularity.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also noted that Threads was adding the ability to post audio clips. These offer “karaoke style transcription”. We also know that Threads is working on a new “Trends” category, where we can find all the trending topics.

Overall, this is a big win for Threads and a great incentive for new users to join the platform and for existing users to become more active. The team seems to be listening to users’ feedback and slowly but surely providing them with the features they want. And if the application quickly exceeded 100 million users, in just 4 days, its popularity also declined rapidly. Hence new features should enhance user engagement.
