The Portuguese government approves the TAP Portugal privatization project

TAP Air Portugal will be privatized again. Wishing to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the company’s good results and the strong recovery in air transport, the Portuguese government adopted a decree-law to this effect on September 28, launching the privatization process. He intends to sell a share of no less than 51% of the company’s capital.

Four operational conditions were imposed on the potential buyers: that they guarantee the growth of TAP, the growth of the Lisbon hub, the growth of point-to-point operations based on untapped capacities at other airports in the country (notably Porto), and that they be committed. To invest in high value-added activities in the air transport sector. The state also wants to maintain the 5% participation rate allocated to employees.
