Russia floods: more than 2,000 people have been evacuated

Russian authorities said on Sunday that they had evacuated more than 2,000 people from flooded areas in the far eastern part after Tropical Storm Khanun hit.

More than 2,000 people have been evacuated, including 405 children [dans la région de] Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said on Telegram.

The ministry said the floods submerged nearly 5,000 buildings in this border area between China and North Korea.

He added that rescuers have set up 13 temporary shelters in this area.

The city of Ussuriysk experienced the worst flooding in a decade, according to state news agency TASS.

Last week, Storm Khanun, with heavy rains and strong winds, lashed Japan before reaching the Korean Peninsula.

In particular, it led to precautionary evacuations and cancellations of hundreds of flights and trains in Japan and South Korea.
