Portugal narrowly wins over Iceland, and Cristiano Ronaldo scores his 200th goal

Portugal achieved a last-minute victory over Iceland (0-1) on Tuesday evening, in its fourth match in the Euro 2024 qualifiers. Cristiano Ronaldo gave victory to his team by scoring the only goal in the match and celebrating his 200th goal for the Seleção in the best way possible.

The first half witnessed clear equality between the two teams, despite the Portuguese dominating the ball. But even if they got their feet on the ball, Roberto Martinez's men were unable to bring down the Icelandic defense which completely stymied Cristiano Ronaldo in attack.

In the second half, the Portuguese were more present in the last 30 metres, but the Icelanders were able to contain the Lusitanian attacks.

Ten minutes before the end of the match, Iceland found itself in a very complicated situation by reducing the number of its players to ten players following the expulsion of Willumson, who received the second yellow card (80).

At the end of the match, Cristiano Ronaldo gave the Seleção victory with a shot from close range (90+1). A goal verified long after being verified by VAR.
