Having formally made her decision within the Hericort cheerleading committee a few months ago, Françoise Vorpilot organized her jubilee last Saturday.
After stints at Bethoncourt and Saint-Suzanne, in 1973, Françoise, now 82, established the main “Les Vertes” department. An accomplished athlete in swimming and gymnastics and a youth and sports bronze medalist, Françoise led the Héricourt department until 1987, often activating the city and participating in numerous events throughout France but also in the ‘exotic’. Then it resumed its activity from 2008 to 2023.
Desiring to reunite with her former students, she organized her jubilee last Saturday. There were more than twenty of them, all of them now grandmothers, present at the ceremony organized at the headquarters of the Portuguese Association.
They all had so much fun and affection wearing their old hats. “It brought back a lot of memories of my youth, because I started with Françoise in 1973,” said one. Françoise even wore the full outfit, complete with swimsuit, skirt, shoes and hat. She also distributed many photos from the 1970s, in addition to shoes and jackets.
More than 100 people were then able to talk about the past, by participating in the meal prepared by the Portuguese Association, headed by Rosalia da Costa, who together with many volunteers often provides service to other Hericortoa Associations by preparing excellent meals for them.
