“Our goal is to ramp up to deal with incoming arrivals. People who are arriving, at least at this point, want to be able to stay for a few days, a few weeks, a few months, but they obviously want to be able to leave as quickly as possible to Ukraine. which will not be at war then.”

Companies such as Gecina, developer Nexity and tourist accommodation giant Airbnb have also offered accommodations.

Accommodations offered by public and private actors range from holiday centers, which are still far from full, to social or student housing, through to municipal housing or non-designated social housing, for example in quiet areas. “This will not be at the expense of those who have waited for social housing for a long time,” the minister pledged.

“The residents will not understand that we were not in time for this unprecedented event,” she justified.
