Sugar brunches are back this year in the one-of-a-kind apple shack. They have won many awards in recent years for their creativity, product quality and excellent service. Various vegetarian or non-vegetarian options are available to you: a gourmet cottage meal, an improved traditional cottage meal or an oca cheese fondue break for sharing. You can also order gluten-free or lactose-free versions. A must visit, they live up to their reputation.
Let’s start the article with this excellent initiative that came up last year of more than 25 sugar shacks in Quebec. You can go to their site and enter your zip code to see all of your options. Each shack offers you a gourmet box that you can pick up at the Metro grocery store closest to your home. This year, there are over 196 different pick-up points in Quebec. They have shacks that offer vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or pork-free menus. By ordering with them, you will receive a link to the “My Cabin at Home” view, just to recreate the atmosphere at home!
In St-Lin des Laurentides is Cabane aux Délices des Sucres from Groupe Chez Rosa. The dining room has a capacity of 70, which creates an intimate and family atmosphere. Eat there, tour the facilities, share a cottage home with their shop. Don’t forget to bring your own wine or beer with your meal. Contact them for any group booking request.
Enjoy the 2023 season from March 4th to April 30th. Come to Rougemont in Quatres Feuilles to enjoy an exceptionally sugary meal. It can accommodate up to 200 people for private events and individual bookings. The room has an arcade, disco, mini golf and a small stage to host singers. The grand buffet allows you to eat all you like with a 100% gluten-free menu and vegan options. The platform on their website allows you to form a group and pay your stake individually online.
La Sucrerie Bonaventure is known as one of the most unified shanties in Quebec. Sucrerie Bonaventure’s new dining room and rustic décor will charm you. The traditional menu is served a la carte with entertainment, DJ and karaoke. They now have a liquor license so it is no longer possible to bring your own alcohol. After your meal, you can relax outside with the outdoor fireplace, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, visit the little farm or bring souvenirs with the shop. In Cabane à Sucre Constantin in Saint-Eustache, from February 16 to April 30, 2023, it is possible to celebrate the traditional all-you-can-eat sugar meal. Available through April 24th, you can do a variety of activities during your visit such as a taffy on snow, ballroom, horse-drawn sleigh ride, mini farm, puppet museum, puppet theatre, visit to censers (upon reservation) and more! The menus adapt to any dietary preferences and/or restrictions by offering completely vegetarian (pork-free), vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, egg-free, soy-free or traditional options. Keep the fun going at home by choosing one of the many candy boxes to take away with you.
Domaine Labranche is a unique concept in Montérégie that combines a Sugar Shack, an orchard, and a vineyard. In business for more than 103 years, it’s years of experience that you can savor from March 3 to April 23, 2023. Choose the menu you like best from traditional, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free or vegan. The experience includes a visit to the small farm, traditional house, and snow padding. You’ll also have the chance to walk the footpath around the maple grove, shop at the gourmet store, let your kids enjoy the game units, ride a horse-drawn carriage or visit the censer. If that’s not enough to convince you, know that they serve over a hundred Moisson Québec for you to give back for your next meal.
From February 18th to April 30th, 2023, Érablière Charbonneau will be able to welcome you on site or prepare your boxes to warm at home. A meal with the flavors of yesteryear will allow you to rediscover the joy of tradition through dishes served to the tables as desired. Numerous activities are offered on site, such as ice skating, vaporizer visits, and play units for children, as well as ski runs and snowshoeing. During the sugar off season you can contact them directly if you would like to make a reservation for 50 or more people.
Open all year round, Sucrerie de la Montagne is a must-see in Rigaud. Known as a “Quebec Heritage Site” and “signature product,” this sugar shack is nestled in the heart of a century-old forest of maple trees and offers its customers a true intrusion into Canada’s and Quebec’s ancestral past. The menu will be served in February, March and April 2023 on weekdays and weekends. Musical entertainment, a sleigh or cart shuttle and snow tastings are on-site activities. Reserve your place by phone! If you want to enhance the experience, you can rent one of the old houses to sleep in this magical place.
La Cabane à sucre des Sportifs is located in Saint-Esprit in Lanaudière and has a magical place to welcome you, and has been for 7 generations. Lunches are served daily, while dinners are served from Friday to Sunday. It is possible to go there during the week for dinner by reservation only. Dishes are served on the table to taste, you just need to choose which alcohol you want to bring with you to enjoy this feast. On the weekends, order the extra bacon in maple syrup: pure pleasure!
