(Dallas) Two hospital workers in Dallas were killed Saturday in a shooting inside the hospital center and police were shot, authorities said.

The shooting took place around 11 a.m. inside the facility that is part of the Methodist Health System hospital network, according to hospital spokesperson Ryan Owens. “A Methodist Health System officer arrived at the scene and confronted the suspect and shot him, wounding him,” Owens said in a statement.

The names of the victims and their locations in the hospital were not immediately announced.

The hospital network said in a statement that it mourns the deaths. “The Methodist Health System family is saddened by the loss of two of our beloved team members,” a statement from the network read. Our entire organization mourns this unimaginable tragedy. »

The suspect, whose name has not been released at this time, was transferred to another hospital. Mr Owens said his condition was unknown and that he was in custody.

Dallas police referred questions to hospital police, who did not return phone calls for comment.

The shooting followed shootings at a hospital in September in Little Rock, Arkansas, that killed a visitor, and in June in Tulsa, Oklahoma, that killed four people.
