15 months probation for Daniel Briere’s son

Carson Briere, the son of Philadelphia Flyers general manager Daniel Briere, was given 15 months probation by an Erie County judge in connection with an incident in which he pushed a wheelchair down a flight of stairs, in March.

The video clip of this gesture sparked a lot of discussion on social media, with many highlighting the lack of consideration of the young man, who is now 24 years old. On March 11, during an outing to a bar in Pennsylvania, Briere and his friend Patrick Carozzi descended a staircase that belonged to a disabled woman who had left to go to the bathroom. A police investigation followed and criminal charges were brought against the two Mercyhurst University students.

They reportedly appeared Tuesday Erie Times News. Their applications were accepted for the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition Programme, offered to people who have committed a first non-violent offence.

At the end of his 15-month probation for the second-degree felony, Briere will see the charges against him dismissed and his record expunged.

In court, the man who was kicked off his university’s hockey team apologized to Sidney Benes, who lost his legs in a car accident in 2021. His wheelchair was damaged when he fell down the stairs, a situation she described as “humiliating.”

Before her and the judge, Briere’s attorney explained that his client had volunteered at a hockey club for disabled veterans since the accident and had offered to pay for the damage to the wheelchair.
