Victor Andre (ASUB): “We did some great stuff”

It must be said that our country was in the pool of death and that after its three defeats, it could not qualify for the quarter-finals. “In terms of the results, we are necessarily a little disappointedASUB Waterloo player Victor Andre confirms. We were short of Ireland (7-31) who fielded their almost entirely professional team, but we tried to build and managed to score. The match against Great Britain was much tighter (7-19) and we could have had a chance of winning. And against France, we only lost by one try (12-17) in a tense and committed match. In the end, even if our hobbies pay off in cash, we can be proud of our commitment and showing great things against world championship teams.

“We have a great group in which I feel comfortable.”

On a personal level, after a long fifteen-year-old season with his club, “It goes on, admits the 24-year-old, who has been playing ASUB since he was 10 years old. But, we’re always happy to find the seven-man national team with whom I’ve been developing more regularly since last year. We frolic with pleasure, and suddenly forget about fatigue and small sores, and find energy to play and have fun. It’s really my case because we have a great group that I feel comfortable in.”

The second and final round will be held in Germany from July 7-9. “The main objective was to qualify for the World Challenger Championship in 2024, but the draw for this first round was not in our favor. As for the second round, the objective will be to get as many points as possible to finish the tournament as high as possible.”

It should also be noted that Holboa Hugues Bastien, Ryan Goodsmark and Gaspard Lally were also part of the group that won the two classification matches against Romania (45-7) and Lithuania (26-5).
