Ukraine: Several cities were targeted by Russian strikes

Kyiv | Ukrainian authorities announced that several Ukrainian cities, including Kharkiv (northeast), Lviv (west), and Odessa (south), were subjected to Russian strikes on Friday morning.

A general air alert was activated for the entire country at around 05:00 GMT, with the Air Force in particular indicating a danger to the Kiev region.

Three people were injured in an air strike on Konotop in the Sumy region, where a residential building was significantly bombed, according to the local military administration.

The city of Kharkiv was subjected to at least ten strikes in two waves, which did not cause any casualties until further notice, according to the head of the local military administration, Oleg Senegubov.

City Mayor Igor Terekhov said that the strikes were carried out with S-300 and X-22 missiles and disrupted electricity supplies to transportation.

Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov said that a building was damaged in Odessa after an overnight raid, but the resulting fire was quickly brought under control.

In Lviv, a city rarely targeted, his counterpart Andrei Sadovy spoke of “two strikes” in an attack carried out in total by “ten martyrs (Iranian drones)” in the area.

The official referred to a “fire in a vital facility,” without providing further details.

Authorities also reported explosions in the Dnipro region.

According to the military, Russian Tu95MS bombers fired “guided missiles.”

On Thursday, Russian strikes left three dead and nine wounded in two villages in the Zaporizhzhya region in southern Ukraine, according to local authorities.

For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense indicated that it destroyed a Ukrainian drone over the Kursk region, north of the Ukrainian border.
