As Steve Sarkissian prepares for the National Colleges Soccer Championship as the # 1 offensive coordinator Alabama, for him Texas The staff continues to take shape. Obviously, there will be SEC flavor and Alabama on either side of the ball.
Mississippi State Sources told CBS Sports that Defense Coordinator Zach Arnett has emerged as a candidate for the same position on Sarkissian’s crew in Texas. The 34-year-old Arnett finished his debut season with Mike Leach. The Bulldogs improved from 11th place in total defense to 5th.
Arnette is a prodigy from Rocky Long, one of the nation’s best defensive minds. He spent nine years on the defensive side of the ball with Long at San Diego State As a graduate assistant (2011-13), a back coach (2014-17) and defense coordinator (2018-19). The Aztecs led Mountain West in full defense in five of those seasons.
CBS Sports previously reported that the former South Carolina Coach Will Muschamp turned down an opportunity to return to Texas as defense coordinator. Arkansas Defense coordinator Barry Odom is also among those targeted by Sarkissian for the position.
Sources reported to CBS Sports that three current and former members of Alabama employees of Texas employees have been mentioned.
Former Alabama analyst AJ Milwee, who was recently hired as Attack Coordinator at Arkansas State During the reign of Butch-Jones, Sarkissian caught his attention. Jones quit his job as an analyst in Alabama to take up the job of Red Wolves three years after he left Tennessee.
While Sarkissian will call the plays in Texas, the opportunity is there for Miloy, 35, to participate in the game’s planning some sort of offensive coordinator role. Prior to joining Bama as an analyst in 2019, Meloy spent six years as an analyst Akron Attack Coordinator.

Alabama offensive line coach Kyle Flood and Special Teams coach Jeff Banks are known to have Sarkissian’s interest in continuing their roles in Texas.
The flood is earlier Rutgers Head coach (2012-15) joined Nick Saban’s crew in 2019. Banks is considered one of the nation’s best private team coaches in his sophomore year in Alabama. He spent the last five years coaching special teams and tight finishes Texas A&M.
