The pole is in contact with cultural associations to conduct these exchanges. “It is the European Union that finances in order to unite the populations of member countries and avoid conflicts in the future,” explains Olivier Teobaldo, Director of the Youth Department. In this context, the bloc had already visited Portugal about 8 months ago and Romania 7 years ago.

This week, from Monday, April 10th to Monday, April 17th, they were allowed to share several activities related to global warming. In particular, they went to Chamonix to observe the melting of glaciers during a 10-kilometer walk. They also made household products such as deodorant, toothpaste, solid soap… “We are not pessimistic about climate problems. We focus on finding solutions,” explains Olivier.

Young foreigners were able to discover the idiosyncrasies of French culture, especially through meals. “Here, you eat the salad as an appetizer, it’s strange,” says the Portuguese Alexandre, confused. Leonette, the young Romanian, agrees with a laugh.

They were housed in Saint-Christo, at the O. Tipi Lodge, which allowed them to enjoy these intercultural moments also during their evenings. Each tipi consisted of 9 young men. There were three in each country.

Many speak of this exchange as an opportunity. “It was an opportunity to go to France,” explains Lionet, a 21-year-old Romanian. Environmental protection is also a topic that is more sensitive to.
