Korean tourists are most attracted to Portugal and Hungary

SEOUL, Dec. 5 (Yonhap) — South Korean tourist interest increased further in Portugal and Hungary over the past year, while Japan, Vietnam and other Asian countries remained the top-searched destinations, data from travel search engine Skyscanner showed. This Wednesday.

Skyscanner analyzed online searches for travel destinations between October last year and September this year, and found that searches for Portugal increased by 93% compared to the same previous period. Hungary ranked second in terms of internet searches, with an increase of 74%.

Other countries that saw an increase in searches included Vietnam (46%), Austria (44%), Russia (42%), Turkey (39%), Malaysia (25%), Italy (23%), and Croatia (20%) And Greece (20%).

Portugal and Hungary appeared on entertainment television programs, increasing their visibility.

“Prices in Portugal and Hungary are a little lower than Western Europe, and they are romantic locations with great views,” a Skyscanner manager explained. “More people seem to be moving away from the stereotypical ways of Europe and heading to nearby small towns, in search of a new Europe,” he added.

The ten most searched destinations are Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, United States, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Guam and Malaysia.
