Knife attack in New York: Five dead, including the suspect, and three injured

A New York home was the scene of a family tragedy when a person stabbed four members of his family to death before attacking police, who had no choice but to shoot him dead.

At approximately 5:10 a.m., authorities received a phone call from a teenage girl who claimed her cousin was “killing her family members” at a multifamily home located at 22H Street in Queens.

Once they arrived at the scene, police saw the suspect, 38-year-old Courtney Gordon, who allegedly attacked them with a knife.

“When they got to the driveway, they saw a man come out. He was carrying luggage. The officers asked the man one or two questions, in a confrontation that lasted about 10 seconds, during which the man pulled a knife on him. Then a police officer with 28 years of experience shot and killed the suspect. The latter was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

After subduing the suspect, the police had to wait for firefighters to arrive and put out a fire that was preventing them from entering the house.

An 11-year-old girl was found unconscious outside the home. The latter died of her injuries in the hospital. Inside, police found three more dead victims: a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a man in his 30s. All of them were stabbed to death, according to police.

Finally, another victim, a 61-year-old woman, was rescued and taken to hospital in critical condition. The injured police officers were also taken to hospital, but there is no fear for their lives.
