“I am a miracle”: dies within 28 minutes of cardiac arrest

An Australian man suffered a cardiac arrest during a basketball game and was presumed dead for 28 minutes. The man testified that he had a near-death experience.

Phil Zdibel, 57, fell to the floor from a coronary artery aneurysm while playing an intense basketball match last November in Geelong.

His son, Joshua, was attending his father’s game that day. It was he who alerted the emergency service when he saw his father collapse to the ground, according to information from Daily Star Media. Paramedics quickly arrived and attempted resuscitation maneuvers with a pacemaker.

When the basketball player woke up in the hospital a few days later, he was told he had been examined for 28 minutes.

Phil did not experience death like anyone else, and there was no white light at the end of the tunnel. The man felt as if he was floating on top of his body and watching the scene while doctors tried to resuscitate him. “I would say I am out of my body,” said Mr Zdybell in an interview with Geelong Advertiser.

“I’m a miracle”

For the 57-year-old, it’s a “miracle” that he went into cardiac arrest at a basketball game with so many people present. Dying in his sleep was even worse for him. He said, “Nobody can find me.”

After his accident, the athlete revealed that he had a new perspective on life, that is, to live it as if it were the last day.

A few months after the accident, he had already participated in a new taekwondo competition.
