Tehran (Ikna) – Maurice Boucay, a French physician who studied the Qur’an and other religious texts, emphasized the divine and sole character of the Qur’an.
He began talking about the scientific miracles of the Qur’an with the contemporary Egyptian scholar Abd al-Razzaq Nawfal, a discussion deepened by Maurice Boukay, a French Catholic physician in the early 1950s, due to his interest in ancient scriptures.
Bukay was a private physician to King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, and that is how he got close to the Arab world. He was fluent in the Arabic language and wrote a book entitled “The Injil, the Injil and the Qur’an in the Light of Modern Science”. This book has been translated into dozens of languages and printed in hundreds of copies. In the seventies, it was of interest to a large part of Muslims.
After its publication, this book faced attacks from major scientific journals and journals, which criticized the author’s desire to link scientific theories with the sacred text.
Maurice Bucaille is one of the pioneers in the study of the scientific miracles of the Holy Quran. For him, the close relationship between science and religion proves the domestic character of the Qur’an and its agreement with modern science.
Bukay was born on July 19, 1920 and died on February 17, 1988. In 1973, he was appointed family physician to King Faisal of Saudi Arabia. He was also a physician to some members of the family of Anwar Sadat, the former President of Egypt.
His parents were French and Catholic. After he finished high school, he joined a French university, obtained a medical degree, and became one of the most famous Western surgeons and orientalists.
He embraced Islam, and his writings demonstrated the value and status of Islam for Westerners, and the indisputable link between science and religion.
