Broadcast: One of the most original science fiction series of the moment will have a season 3 – News Séries

The aliens in the Apple TV+ series Invasion extend their stay on Earth. While its second season ended in October 2023, fans were waiting to find out if a season 3 would be ordered — and were instead expecting bad news… Nope: the somewhat unique sci-fi drama will actually have a third season! Production of this third chapter should already be underway.

Thus, we will be able to continue the captivating – and surprisingly quiet – exploration of this extraterrestrial invasion told from the point of view of six characters spread across the planet.

Although we don't know more about future episodes, series creator Simon Kinberg guarantees that he and his team will continue to flesh out the story.

“I'm so proud of what we've been able to do in the first two seasons of the series with our partners at Apple TV+, and our cast and crew.He said in a statement. “This new season will continue to build on the scale, stakes, and thrust of the invasion, keeping our characters at the forefront, and bringing them together in a way that we hope will surprise and, more importantly, move our audience, who has been incredibly excited. Supportive and inspiring us since day one.“

And if this isn't the first (nor the last) time an alien invasion has been told on the small or big screen, Invade It has the particularity of being choral and unspectacular and told in real time, while the planet is in chaos, and from the point of view of people living in different parts of the world.

Less frenetic than the War of the Realms to which it's often compared – and therefore less urgent to survive through ultra-paced action – the series focuses on the psychology of the characters and takes time to develop, as close to reality as possible. Such a reality (and possible). Add to that the suspense, stunning cinematography, and beautiful special effects, and you get a UFO of the genre – literally.

The series' cast includes Golshifteh Farahani, Shiuli Kutsuna, Shamir Anderson, India Brown, Billy Barratt, Azhi Robertson, Paddy Holland (yes, yes, Tom Holland's younger brother) and Tara Moidi.

Invade is part of Apple TV+'s lineup of gritty sci-fi and suspense series that also includes For All Mankind with Joel Kinnaman, Foundation with Jared Harris, Silo with Rebecca Ferguson, Severance with Adam Scott, Hello Tomorrow! with Billy Crudup, as well as the upcoming Sugar with Colin Farrell and Dark Matter, which will star Jennifer Connelly and Joel Edgerton.
