Google has indicated that split screen is compatible with all vehicles and that it can be reconfigured according to the shape of the screen (square, rectangle, portrait, etc.). The company hasn’t specified whether new Android Auto features will be rolled out via over-the-air updates to all vehicles that are currently compatible with Android Auto.
Android Auto is also getting an update to the Google Assistant which will now offer smart suggestions including missed call notifications, quick access time sharing and instant access to media. Google also offers a progress bar for music or podcasts so drivers can progress through a song or episode. According to the company, this is what users are asking for the most.
Shortcuts will also be present on the screen for replying to messages and calling your favorite contacts. Even better, the latest Pixel and Samsung phones will soon be able to place calls using WhatsApp with Android Auto.
