The scientists who occupied the Natural History Museum in 2022, heard on Thursday before the Paris Police Court, are renewing a long tradition of scientists engaging in environmental alarms.

On the occasion of the “Date Date” which takes place in Blois from October 4 to 8, the editorial board of the magazine launch It invites about thirty historians to take a different look at current events. For a growing number of scientists, it is no longer enough today to produce facts and make them heard. Publishing articles, drawing conclusions along the lines of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and its changing character for biodiversity, the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity Services, in the hope of provoking reactions from politicians, economic actors and the general public: this mode of intervention seems outdated to them. Because things are not changing, or very little, they decided to enter the arena. In April 2022, about thirty of them peacefully occupied an exhibit at the Natural History Museum in Paris to denounce inaction in the face of the environmental crisis. They received a hefty fine, which they contested, and will be heard on Thursday, October 5, before the Paris Police Court.
