UEFA Champions League: Manchester City qualify for the quarter-finals thanks to five from Haaland! – rts.ch

After hanging on to the first leg in Germany, Manchester City left RB Leipzig no chance in the knockout stages of the Champions League. The Nationals won, 7-0, thanks to a five-pointer from Erling Haaland! In the other match of the evening, Inter Milan retained the advantage with a goal scored in the first leg in a draw (0-0) at Porto.

With this five-a-side trophy, the 22-year-old striker enters the recent history books of this competition in its current format. He follows in the footsteps of Lionel Messi and the Brazilian Luis Adriano, authors of a similar achievement respectively with Barcelona in 2012 against Bayer Leverkusen and with Shakhtar Donetsk in 2014 against BATE Borisov.

In the first half, Haaland scored a hat-trick by scoring from a penalty kick (22), with a header (24) and then pushing a ball that crossed the goal line (45 + 2). After signing 4-0 at Gundogan (49), the blond giant scored their fourth (53) and then fifth (57) goals of the evening, before giving way on the hour mark to Julian Alvarez. De Bruyne added the seventh goal for the Citizens in the 92nd minute.

Inter also qualified

With an outstanding defensive performance, Inter Milan advanced to the next round. The Nerazzurri won 1-0 at home, and withstood Porto (0-0). Unfortunately, the Portuguese twice hit the post in stoppage time.

Thus, the Italians secured their qualification in the same way that their rival Milan got against Tottenham. The two Lombard clubs may qualify for the quarter-finals, because the draw (Friday 17 March) will be fully open.
