On March 9, 2013, Bernard Solera, then Mayor of Quinte Fonsegrieves and Raúl Castro, Mayor of Leiria in Portugal, signed a twinning agreement between the two cities. On the basis of the Cooperation and Friendship Agreement, signed in November 2010, and in view of the already existing fruitful exchanges, while respecting the relations between the two countries and in accordance with the principle of subsidiarity, the two cities decided to sign a twinning charter agreement with the aim of strengthening cooperation between them for the benefit of their two communities. Since then, the two cities have carried out many cultural, sports, economic and social exchanges and activities, aiming to enhance cooperation for the benefit of their communities. Quint-Fonsegrives welcomes this year on the 23rd and 24th of September a Portuguese delegation (elected from the city of Leiria and the Staccato dance company) to celebrate these 10 years of partnership. On this occasion, a program on cultural and economic activities is proposed. Saturday 23: Economic meeting with actors in the field of health (health institutions), the Franco-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and the elected representatives of the two cities. Evening 20:30 (Espace Bernard Soléra road de la Saune) Dance party with Staccato de Leiria and a group of dancers from the Modern’Jazz department at Quint-Fonsegrives’ cottage (admission free, with refreshments on the spot)
Sunday 24: 11.30 am meal show in Piazza Bernard Solera, Fado dance with Leiria’s Staccato group, followed by an afternoon of dancing with Elixir group. Registration forms for the dinner show on Sunday the 24th can be obtained from the Town Hall reception where they must be deposited with the check payable to the Society of Quint-Fonsegrives-Jumelages.
