Portugal salutes the economic performance of Côte d’Ivoire

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Joao Gómez Cravinho, who is visiting Côte d’Ivoire on Wednesday 5 July 2023, was at the Presidential Palace by Ivorian Head of State Alassane Ouattara.

The Portuguese foreign minister’s visit comes within the framework of reopening the Portuguese embassy in Côte d’Ivoire and strengthening cooperation relations between the two countries.

At the end of this meeting, the head of Portuguese diplomacy said that he discussed with the Ivorian head of state the social, political and security situation in the West African region in addition to the economic prospects for Côte d’Ivoire.

In this regard, he stressed the role that Portugal can play in relations between the subregion and the European Union as well as in promoting economic growth and development in Côte d’Ivoire “and welcomed Côte d’Ivoire’s performance in recent years, and the growing interest of Portuguese companies to invest in our country.”

The Portuguese minister also welcomed the reopening of the Portuguese embassy in Abidjan, which, according to him, reflects the excellent relations and mutual trust between the two countries.
