The United States carried out a series of strikes on Friday against Iranian elite forces and pro-Iranian armed groups in Syria and Iraq, in response to the killing of three American soldiers in Jordan on January 28.

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said on Saturday that the United States will continue its retaliation and does not want to rule out the possibility of a direct attack on targets located in Iran.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser al-Kanani said today, Monday, during his weekly press conference, “The Islamic Republic will not hesitate to use its capabilities to respond that makes the aggressors regret.”

He added: “Others have already seen this ability and power and will count a hundred times before doing any bad deed.”

The United States and the United Kingdom announced on Saturday that they had bombed dozens of targets in Yemen, in response to repeated attacks carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthis on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Al-Kanani denounced the air strikes in Iraq, Yemen and Syria as “adventurous” and “illegal” actions, saying they were carried out as part of a “policy of full support” for Israel.

The Houthis say they are acting in “solidarity” with the Palestinians in Gaza, who are living in the grip of war between the Israeli army and the Islamist Hamas movement.

US forces announced on Sunday that they had carried out air strikes against five missiles in Yemen, which were prepared to be launched at ships in the Red Sea.

The Iranian spokesman said on Monday that Tehran “does not seek to exacerbate tensions and crises in the region and has never supported tensions and crises.”
