A nearly 14-foot alligator was shot and killed after a human corpse was spotted in its mouth in Largo, Florida.

Upon arriving at the scene, authorities euthanized the animal — specifically 13 feet, 8.5 inches long — and removed it from the water where they eventually found the remains of an adult.

“The coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and [les circonstances entourant] death. Local police said that when the deceased is identified and his next of kin are informed, he will be notified via a media alert.

The event occurred near Ridgecrest Park where there is a five-acre lake, according to local media Spectrum Bay News 9.

“Several of my neighbors were here and they were the ones who told me about the crocodile. While we were here we heard gunfire. I think they killed it.” [l’animal]Jennifer Dean, a resident of the area, said that there are a lot of crocodiles in the area, but she had never seen one this size before.

For JaMarcus Pollard, who was passing by, it was an impressive sight. The man who alerted firefighters said: “I could tell there was a body in his mouth, so I started recording.”
