Fado evening with Dulce Pontes

Portuguese singer Dulce Pontes performed on the stage of the Prat del Ruar hall in Escaldes-Engordany on October 20 at 9:30 pm in front of a warm audience, as the Portuguese community in Andorra is large.

Accompanied by five talented musicians, she not only performed “Vados” pieces from her latest recordings, but also some pieces borrowed from international repertoire such as “Amapola”, “Aranjuez” or “Saudade” made famous by Cesaria Evora from Cape Verde. Like the latter, barefoot on stage, she ended the concert with a typical Portuguese song that made the whole room dance.

The previous day, during a meeting with the press organized by the Town Hall, she spoke about her friendship with the great Italian composer Ennio Morricone, who died in 2020, and highlighted the enormous importance he had for her artistic and personal life. The meeting took place in 1995 when she lent her voice to the song of the film “Pereira Pretends” with Marcello Mastroianni and Daniel Auteuil, for whom he composed the music. After that, they gave several concerts together in which she performed about fifteen of her most famous themes from “Mission” to “Cinéma Paradiso” including “For a Fistful of Dollars”. A wonderful singer who celebrates her 35th career this year.
