The story of Megalopolis takes place in a future New York City, renamed New Rome. The change in the city sparks a conflict between Cesare Catilina (Adam Driver), a genius artist who wants to make the metropolis a utopia, and his opponent, Mayor Franklin Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito), who is deeply committed to reactionary politics.
