The forty-seventh edition of Atlitsima heralds the fore! No less than 8 Olympic champions will attend in Lausanne on August 26, according to the squad that organizers revealed on Friday.
Olympic champion and world record holder in pole vaulting, Armand Duplantis, will be the favorite for the competition scheduled to take place the day before the meeting, on August 25, in Ouchy, on the shores of Lake Geneva. The event will take place under a marquee, which is enough to allow for a great performance whatever the weather, and marks the competition website.
Qatar’s Mutaz Barshim will meet in the men’s length against Italian Gianmarco Tampere, who shared the Olympic gold medal last summer in Tokyo. Throws are also promising with Olympic champion Ryan Crozer (USA) in the shot put and Neeraj Chopra (India) in the javelin. Portugal’s Pedro Piccardo, the Olympic triple jump champion, will also be in attendance.
Bahamian Olympic 400m champion Shauna Miller Uibo will line up, while compatriot Stephen Gardiner, Olympic and world 400m champion, will compete in the 200m. The latter will face American Noah Lyles, Olympic bronze medalist and world champion, and he must also face Vice Olympic champion Kenny Bednarek (USA).
