“We are investigating” the reasons, said a spokeswoman for the Swedish National Transport Administration, which sent the warning on Wednesday for an unknown reason.

The message was spread via a system called “TMC” (Traffic Media Channel) that allows traffic information messages to be received on the car’s navigator via the car’s radio.

The message was broadcast in Blekinge, in the south of the country, which is home to one of the main bases of the Swedish Air Force.

“Important message, Blekinge County: Air attack, Danger” appeared on the driver’s navigator display, preceded by a danger sign.

These are the media interviewed by the surprised motorists who informed the authority that the warning had been sent.

The number of affected drivers cannot be immediately estimated.

Trafikverket admitted that she knew “very little” about the origin of the incident, which she considers “serious” in the context of the war in Ukraine.

Sweden is distinguished in Europe by its major media campaigns for the civilian population in the event of a war in the country, with pamphlets distributed to each family about what to do.

The country has not experienced a war on its soil for more than two centuries.
