(Agence Ecofin) – Maniema County has entrusted the construction of one of its largest road projects to Future Motion, a Portuguese company. The latter will also build other infrastructure unrelated to the field of transportation

The authorities of the province of Maniema in the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed a contract a few days ago with the Portuguese company Future Motion for the asphalting of 138 kilometers of roads. The project, funded by the African Development Bank, consists of paving the Kindu Katoba section which will connect two economically dynamic regions of the country.

Rene Kalonda, representative of the contracting company, confirmed that the completion of the project will indeed allow the province to open up. ” Various products will be able to reach this province from Kinshasa via the Congo River, then the Lumami River where the Katuba port will be established. “, He said.

The project also includes the construction of many public buildings, including the official residences of the governor, his deputy, members of the regional government, and the office of the provincial council.

Afani Idrissa, the governor of the beneficiary governorate, indicated that the estimated duration of this work is 36 months. Construction is expected to begin within the next 40 days.
