The film, co-produced by Belgium, France and the Netherlands, tells the story of a strong friendship between two thirteen-year-olds, Leo and Remy. When their friendship suddenly breaks, Leo gets closer to Sophie, Remy’s mother, and tries to understand what happened. Close is a film about friendship and responsibility.

The winning film was chosen by a combination of audience and deputies votes, each representing 50% of the final result. The award platform has received nearly 45,000 ratings (on a scale of one to five stars) from European viewers and 360 ratings from MEPs.
