Federal Transport Minister Omar Al-Ghabra announced that aircraft owned, leased or operated by Russian interests can no longer fly over Canada, effective immediately.

The European Union has also gone ahead with such a measure in all of its 27 member states. The United Kingdom and Norway also decided to close their airspace to the Russians.

Reuters reported that this measure was under consideration in the United States. Their homeland urged US citizens who are in Russia to consider leaving the country immediately.

The unease surrounding the Russian invasion was felt even at the crucial UN climate meeting that brought 195 countries together behind closed doors by videoconference on Sunday.

“Let me apologize on behalf of all Russians for not being able to prevent this conflict,” the head of the Russian delegation, Oleg Anisimov, released during a surprising intervention, three sources admitted to AFP.

Meanwhile, the countries of the world continue to deal aggressively with Russia.

To prevent Moscow from financing the conflict in Ukraine, European foreign ministers agreed to block transactions by the Russian Central Bank, which could cripple more than half of its reserves placed in banks in G7 countries.
