Federal Transport Minister Omar Al-Ghabra announced that aircraft owned, leased or operated by Russian interests can no longer fly over Canada, effective immediately.
The European Union has also gone ahead with such a measure in all of its 27 member states. The United Kingdom and Norway also decided to close their airspace to the Russians.
Reuters reported that this measure was under consideration in the United States. Their homeland urged US citizens who are in Russia to consider leaving the country immediately.
