Paris strongly opposes the attack on Rafah. French President Emmanuel Macron raised his voice on Sunday, March 24, toward Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, warning that “forced population transfer constitutes a war crime” as the Jewish state prepares for a ground attack in the southern city of Gaza, where more than two are present. During a telephone interview with the Israeli Prime Minister, the French President strongly condemned the recent Israeli announcements regarding colonization, while on Friday Israel announced the seizure of 800 hectares of land in the occupied West Bank.

Benjamin also informed Netanyahu of his intention to submit a draft resolution to the UN Security Council calling for an “immediate and permanent ceasefire.”

Moscow and Beijing opposed a similar resolution proposal put forward by Washington on Friday, particularly denouncing the “hypocritical” text.

Open all crossing points

Five and a half months of devastating war have placed the Gaza Strip in a catastrophic humanitarian situation.

The French President insisted that Israel open “without delay and without conditions all existing land crossings into the Gaza Strip.”

The war broke out on October 7 after an unprecedented Hamas attack on Israeli territory that killed at least 1,160 people, most of them civilians, according to a census conducted by Agence France-Presse based on official Israeli sources.

According to these sources, about 250 people were kidnapped, 130 of whom are still hostage in Gaza, and 33 of them are believed to have died.

In response, Israel vowed to eliminate Hamas, which has held power in Gaza since 2007. Its army launched an offensive that killed 32,226 people in Gaza, according to the latest report from the Islamic movement's health ministry.
