Welcomed by General Manager, Céline Combronde, inside the Combronde group company (1050 people in 23 locations in France), surrounded by site manager Christian Curie and packaging director Bertrand Chatard, the sub-manager immersed herself in this company that employs about twenty people.
Its activities are diverse: packaging, package management, pallet recycling for the OI Manufacturing Group, food plate processing, wood and glass recycling, bulk storage of cake and sunflower seeds … Here, “Nothing is lost, everything is recycled” . Thus, every year 300,000 planks of wood are returned to service, 1000 boards of jars and bottles have defects, that is, 600 tons of glass per month are crushed, and 1500 tons of unused wood are crushed annually. Seven million food grade plastic dividers are also cleaned before being reused.
This company has been based in Chateldon since 2004 on an area of fifteen hectares, five of which are dedicated to massive infrastructure. “Our company policy is not to automate workstations, but we promote it through human activity. Employees, most of whom are from Chateldon, can thrive within the company”, emphasizes Bertrand Chatard.

Then the deputy governor went to the other end of the village, to one of the three locations of the Electro Calorique group set up in 1919, directed by Jerome Brusatte. Châteldon has been around since 1997 and today it employs 34 people.
This entity specializes in manufacturing meal dispensers for hospitals, nursing homes and prisons.
Here, 2,000 exclusive stainless steel and aluminum parts leave the workshops each year and are divided into four ranges: tray trolleys, breakfast trolleys, group tray trolleys and neutral carriage trolleys. “We are always looking to develop our products using new technologies, such as the integration of espresso machines for five years into specific carriages, which has always represented an added value to our activity. The latter will also be enriched by three subsidiaries abroad, in Canada, Spain and Portugal”, concludes Jerome Brusatte.
