Portuguese behind Belgian. The Cartoons and Press Festival sure has an international vibe.

Officially, it is Cristina Sampaio who will be the 24th President of the Castelnaudary Cartoon Festival and the Press. This was announced by Croquignous during the General Assembly held at the Hôtellerie Étienne, in Labastide-d’Anjou, on Friday 1 April (it’s not a fish). It was Dikrisak, the former president, who picked it up and gave it its place. So the Portuguese replaces the Belgian. Cristina Sampaio lives in Lisbon, where since 1986 she has worked as an illustrator and cartoonist for various national and international magazines and newspapers. Currently, she regularly collaborates with “Pùblico” in Portugal, with “Alternatives Economiques” and “Courrier International” in France, and with the TV channel “RTP3” in Portugal.

Cristina Sampaio will come in mid-June to present the theme of this 24th festival in Castelnaudary.

Prior to this announcement, in the presence of Helen Giral, Nicole Catala, Sabine Chabert and then Patrick Mogard, Croquinos held their public meeting. Roger Reverdy presented the ethical report that saw the 23rd festival take place despite the pandemic. It is the Musée Lauragais le Présidial which received this year as the first years of the 20 invited designers, who met the expectations of the organizers and especially the audience who came again in great numbers. School children were also able to meet the artists, either at the Présidial for schools and colleges, or at secondary schools (Pierre Paul Riquet and Germaine Tillon).

After a unanimous vote on this report, it was Treasurer Mark Lantern who presented Croquignous’s accounts and balance sheet, which show a slight deficit. The vote was also approved unanimously. Then Croquinos renewed their positions: Roger Reverdy, President; Brigitte Ramon, Vice President; Michel Pinavier, Secretary; Marie France Cole, Assistant Secretary; Mark Lantern, Treasurer. After thanking the sponsors and the official authorities for their participation, the General Assembly concluded with an excellent cassoulet from Eric Rousselot.
