Yoon said the film means a lot to him because it is his first and last work with late actress Kang Soo-yeon, who died of cardiac arrest in May 2022 while post-production was still underway.

The director said Jung_E is similar to Kang’s personal story, which began at the age of four, and starred in a number of internationally acclaimed films and popular TV dramas throughout his five-year career. contracts.

“When the movie was completed, I felt it reflected Kang’s story,” Yoon said. “After his death, it became a special movie that had something to do with my fate.”

Yoon also showed his confidence in Kim Hyun-joo, who plays several roles in the film: a mother, a warrior, and a combat AI.

Since Kim had already undergone extensive training for the Netflix series “Hellbound,” Yoon was sure she would be ready for the fight scenes.

“Actually, Jung_E’s photo was ambiguous at first, but I gained confidence after seeing (Kim’s) hairstyle and fashion tests,” he said. “She was perfect for a mother and warrior figure.”
